Our Purpose
The Bahá’í Institute of Chelsea has a single purpose: to support the community-building efforts taking place in Chelsea. Open to all who work for the material and spiritual progress of their community, the Institute regularly offers activities—emerging from grassroots community action—for people of all ages.
Programs

The purpose of the children’s class is to help kids ages 5 to 10 develop moral and spiritual qualities such as love, truthfulness, and honesty, so that as they grow, they can become selfless, active contributors to the well-being of their communities.

The Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program (JYSEP) is designed for young people between the ages of 11 and 15, and aims to help them recognize their inherent qualities and talents, such as a heightened awareness of reality, a strong sense of justice, an eagerness to learn about the universe, and a spirit of selfless service to others.

Open to everyone, study circles bring together people from diverse backgrounds to explore how the Bahá’í teachings can be applied to their personal and collective lives. Groups of friends, ages 15 and older, meet to study a sequence of courses inspired by the Bahá’í Writings and developed by the Ruhi Institute.

During long weekends and school breaks, camps bring young people together to study the Institute courses, serve their communities, create art, pray, and form meaningful, lasting friendships in an empowering environment created by youth, for youth.
